Hey guys. A wee update for ye:

The Olympics shows were really something special. I’ll not soon forget the experience of playing to that kind of energy. Our final show on the Granville Island stage was some of the most fun I’ve ever had playing music. We were happy to be playing together again and it seemed to come across in the music.

I’m set to record in Nashville this coming April with producer Brian Ahern (Emmylou Harris, Roy Orbison). Safe to say I’m very excited to make this record!

That’s all for now. Go Canada Go!

Hey Folks,

Things are rolling at the Banff Centre. I’m really enjoying my time here. I’m learning a lot, moving my project forward and nearly every day I’m collaborating with someone new. We have an excellent group of musicians here and it seems everyone is learning from one another.

Last week we organized a benefit for Haiti in Banff and raised over $1200! We’re now looking at organizing a similar event in Canmore over the next couple of weeks. I’ll keep you posted as details get firmed up.

The Olympic Shows next week are fast approaching. We’re at Atlantic Canada House (The Arts Club Theatre) on Granville Island in Vancouver February 17th and 18th. Our sets start at 8:30pm and 9pm respectively. You can check out the full schedule here. If you’re in the area, we’d love to see you.

Thanks for dropping by.

Best,
John

Hi Team,

I’m writing from beautiful Banff, Alberta.  I’m here doing a creative residency at The Banff Centre.  This place is a hotbed of inspiration.  I’m surrounded by amazing talent in great facilities nestled in among the Rocky Mountains.  Pretty good, pretty pretty good.

I’ve got a little hut in the woods with an upright piano and a desk and I’m working on a project.  I’ll be able to write more about it later, but what I can say is that it’s a sweeping Canadian story that I hope to share with the world.

But for now, I’m toiling away in my hut and counting down the days until the band and I take the stage in Vancouver at The Oympics.  February 18th and 19th at Atlantic Canada House on Granville Island in Vancouver for those of you in that neck of the woods.

Or if you’re in the Banff area, I’ll be performing at The Banff Centre periodically so keep you ear to the ground for that.

Aside from all that, I want to send my love to the people of Haiti.  I understand that there is a benefit being organized in Charlottetown and I’m not the least bit suprised.  The PEI music scene is exploding and it seems everyone jumps at the chance to perform for a good cause.  I’m going to try and get something rolling here in Banff over the next few days as well.

And with that, I’m off to my little hut.  Happy New Year to you and yours and thanks for checking in.

John
