Spring is in the air. I’m living in Brooklyn for about five months and really enjoying the experience. While I’m here, I’m working on a few projects:
Marathon Of Hope continues to charge ahead and just a few days ago, another new draft of the script emerged. This is a major event, even for a project that’s been in development since 2004. It takes soooo long for a project of this nature to come to fruition. Some pretty interesting stuff on the horizon for this. More on that later.
I’m also prepping Come All Ye for this summer at The Charlottetown Festival. New songs, new arrangements and favourites from last year. Come see us this summer.
The Songs Of Gene MacLellan Concert just aired from coast to coast on CBC Radio. It was incredible to hear it all again. Working on that show with so many good friends and great artists was an extraordinary experience.
Aside from that, I’m connecting with friends old and new around New York and checking out lots of music & theatre.
I hope that winter is easing its icy grip wherever this may find you.

Hello there. My website definitely needs some attention…soon enough, little site. Stay tuned and it will get better.
It’s been a good autumn. I took some time off after “Come All Ye” closed and kicked around Europe for a couple weeks. Word to the wise – if you get a chance to go to Croatia, GO!
Since then I’ve been working on a short film entitled “Fine Tuning”. It’s a beautiful short film by Jenna Macmillan. The first screening is November 26th at The Confederation Centre Mainstage in Charlottetown.
Had a great little trip out to Calgary in early November to play some shows with Remi Arsenault and Nick Gauthier. Nice to see so many familiar faces out there.
Starting to think about recording, but it’s a ways off yet.
I’m also musical directing a tribute concert for the great Gene MacLellan in January. It’s being recorded by CBC television and will feature the likes of Ron Hynes, Catherine MacLellan, Lennie Gallant, Meaghan Blanchard, Scott Parson, myself and The Haunted Hearts. It’s at Zion Presbyterian Church on January 14. I think this is going to be a sensational night. Tickets go on sale soon.
If you’re on the Island between now and the new year, there are plenty of opportunities to see a show. I have a bunch of new songs and I’m looking forward to taking them for a test run. Hope to see you there.
Best,
John
